Beijing, China, April 3rd, 2014– C-EPRI’s A5000 UHVDC Converter Valve and associated Valve Base Electronics(VBE) have successfully passed Shuanglong converter station pole II low-voltage terminal overload test and all the system commissioning items for Xiluodu-Zhejiang ±800kV UHVDC project on March 28, 2014, making it ready for trial run.

Launched on March 9th, a total of 231 test items had been carried out of Shuanglong converter station low-voltage terminal system commissioning, such as bi-polar low-voltage terminal converter low-power test, DC line fault test, grounding electrode fault disturbance test, bi-polar high-power test, etc.. During the commissiong, A5000 UHVDC converter valve withstood the operating conditions imposed by large current, high voltage and overload. A5000 valve showed desired performance with respect to normal temperature of converter valve and inlet/outlet coolant, good operating condition of VBE and no event record of any kind.

The accomplishment of the low-voltage terminal overload test signifies another successful application of C-EPRI’s A5000 UHVDC converter valve following Jinping-Sunan and Southern Hami-Zhengzhou projects.
