Upon the invitation of Hyosung Corporation, C-EPRI delegation of 5 persons attended an HVDC technical seminar hosted by Hyosung in Jeju Island on Feb.25th, 2013. Also attended includes Korean Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), Korean Electric Power Research Institute (KEPRI), Korean Electro-technology Research Institute (KERI), Jeju National University and Chonbuk National University.

Dr. Caojunzheng, CTO of C-EPRI, introduced the company profile. Dr. Zha Kunpeng, Assistant General Manager, presented C-EPRI’s HVDC solution including both LCC-HVDC and VSC-HVDC. Ms. Pan Yan, deputy General Manager, delivered a closing speech with thanks to the host and sincerely invited all the participants to visit C-EPRI in Beijing, China.

Mr. Kim Eel Hwan, professor from the Electrical Engineering Department of Jeju National University, introduced Jeju Power System and Jeju HVDC #3 which undergoes planning.

The main purpose of the seminar is to get familiarized with KEPCO and HVDC related parties in Korean and to promote C-EPRI’s A5000 valve technology and HVDC FlexibleⓇ.

This seminar marks a substantial progress for the cooperation between C-EPRI and Hyosung following MOU signing on Nov. 2012. The two parties are looking forward to further collaboration on delivering HVDC projects in Korea.
