Beijing, China, Sept. 20, 2012—C-EPRI Electric Power Engineering Co., Ltd has secured an order to provide thyristor valves with cooling system for Hami-Zhengzhou ±800kV/5000A UHVDC transmission project. This UHVDC transmission project transmit up to 8000MW, the highest capacity worldwide, via over 2200km transmission line from energy base in western China to load center in central China.
C-EPRI will design, supply and commission converter valves with cooling system in Hami station’s pole 1. Compare with Jinping-Sunan ±800kV UHVDC transmission project, Hami-Zhengzhou project features even higher engineering technical parameters in terms of transmission capacity and DC current. C-EPRI’s upgraded A5000 UHVDC converter valve, rated at 800kV/5000A will be adopted in this project. The scheme is scheduled for commissioning in 2014.
To cater for the booming market for UHVDC applications both in China and aboard, C-EPRI developed an A5000 type UHVDC converter valve technology. It is rated at ±800kV/5000A, while downwardly compatible with lower voltage applications. The A5000 type valve has passed all the type tests conforming to IEC60700 standards, accredited by KEMA laboratory. The A5000 type valve technology has been used in the Jinping-Sunan ±800kV UHVDC transmission project. In addition, we have recently updated the A5000 valve to ±1100kV/5000A for even higher voltage applications.
