Two guests from ONS（Brazil's National Electricity System Operator）came to visit CEPRI on 7 March, 2011. Mr. Hermes Chipp, CEO, and Mr. Mauro Muniz, head of protection and control, were accompanied by staff from international cooperation department of SGCC and SGID (State Grid International Development Limited) on the visit. Mr. Tang Yong, Chief Engineer of CEPRI, received the guests on CEPRI’s behalf.

The two guests visited the Power System Digital-Analog Hybrid Simulation Laboratory and Power System Dynamic Simulation Laboratory in the headquarters of CEPRI. During the visit, they showed particular interest in the simulation study of UHV AC/DC transmission systems and broadly exchanged notes with the engineers in the lab. They also listened to CEPRI’s introduction to its testing capability on relay protection and transmission line protection, and gained more information about the simulation and testing capability of CEPRI.

The visit is a good opportunity to showcase SGCC’s competence in power system simulation and operation to the outside world. More technological exchange between the two parties is anticipated in the future.
Established in 1998, ONS (Operador Nacional do Sistema Elétrico) is mainly responsible for Brazilian interconnected network (SIN) and managing the state’s transmission networks.
