CEPRI Signed Cooperation Contract with GE on Smart Distribution and Power Utilization Standards

Aug 26, 2011 Font : T T T Print

A project contract on Smart Distribution and Power Utilization between CEPRI and GE Company was signed on August 19th in Beijing. The project is jointly sponsored by USTDA (the U.S. Trade and Development Agency) and CEPRI.

Held at CEPRI headquarter in Beijing, the ceremony was witnessed by Deputy Chief Engineer of CEPRI Bai Xiaomin, Senior Consultant of CEPRI Zhang Wentao, Director of International Cooperation Department of CEPRI Xie Yifan, and General Manager of Digital Energy China of GE Energy Zhang Xianguo, Principal Consultant of Energy Consulting of GE Energy Matt Lecar, and Senior Consultant of Energy Consulting of GE Energy Rameet Kohli, etc.

Mr. Bai Xiaomin and Mr. Matt Lecar, on behalf of both parties, signed the project contract of “State Grid Smart Grid Distribution and Power Utilization Technology: Energy Efficient Smart Grid Standards”, which is aimed at soliciting qualified U.S. firms to provide technical assistance to CEPRI in: reviewing key technologies and integrated solutions; recommending policy and regulatory requirements/standards for smart grid technologies.

GE ranks the first in the project bidding, which put emphasis on the bidders’ knowledge and project experience in smart distribution and customer-side energy management. By looking into the smart grid projects in the U.S. as well as putting forward some standards suggestions, the project is expected to offer insight into what needs to be done in China. GE has made substantial commitments to the Chinese market and has developed a cooperative relationship with State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC). A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on cooperation between SGCC, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and GE was signed to address Strategic Smart Grid Technical Standardization in December 2010. This project cooperation contract further promotes the implementation of the signed MOU, making the cooperation more practical and facilitating the researches and industries development in terms of smart distribution and utilization standards.
