Beijing, China, February 2, 2015 – C-EPRI’s ±1100kV UHVDC converter valve successfully passed dielectric type test in SGRI’s Power System Power Electronics Laboratory (the Lab) on January 24, 2015, all test indexes reaching or exceeding the IEC 60700-1 standards.
In
contrast to ±800kV valve, ±1100kV valve requires a 30 percent increase in test
parameters, with DC test voltage reaching up to 1795kV and switching impulse
voltage up to 2105kV, currently the highest voltages for this type of valve
technology.
To meet the technical requirements for the test of ±1100kV valve, C-EPRI has carried out in-depth research into such key test technologies as test circuit and electromagnetic field simulation, shielding system breakdown characteristic analysis within non-linear voltage area, new-type equivalent load equipment development, testing method study, and test facility capability enhancement, etc. The success of the dielectric type test has made the Lab one of the few that are able to perform complete type tests for ±1100kV UHVDC valve across the globe.
