Beijing, China, March 31, 2016 - C-EPRI was awarded a contract to supply converter valves for the Shenzhen end of the ±800kV/5000MW Lijiang-Shenzhen UHVDC Transmission project on March 31, 2016. The customer is China Southern Grid (CSG), China’s second largest power utility, operating the power grids in the southern part of the country.
The project is designed to transmit the hydro power from the upper reaches of Lancangjiang River to Shenzhen situated at the Pearl River Delta, running through 4 provinces, including Yunan, Guizhou, Guangxi and Guangdong, over a distance of 1959 kilometers. It is currently the longest transmission project in the service territory of CSG and also the first power supply project to Shenzhen using UHVDC.
For C-EPRI, this is its first valve order from CSG and the 7th application of its self-developed A5000 UHVDC valve technology. When completed in 2017, this link will provide one quarter of the total power consumption for Shenzhen per year.
