Beijing, China, September 19th, 2016 –Lingzhou-Shaoxing ±800kV UHVDC Transmission Project was successfully commissioned on September 19, 2016. For this project, C-EPRI supplied converter valves and associated Valve Base Electronics (VBE) equipment for the sending end of Lingzhou Converter Station. This is the fourth UHVDC order that has used C-EPRI’s A5000 converter valves since 2011.
Ling-Shao Project is one of the twelve key power transmission super highways under China’s Anti-Pollution Action Plan. With a designed capacity of 8GW, this project starts at Lingwu in the western Ningxia Autonomous Region and ends at Shaoxing in the eastern Zhejiang Province, running through 6 provinces over a distance of 1720 kilometers. The completion of the project will further promote the development and utilization of the solar power and wind power in China and optimize the power mix with a higher proportion of clean energy.
Over the past 5 years, C-EPRI’s HVDC business has been on a fast
lane thanks to the explosive growth of the HVDC market in China and the rest of
the world. Between 2011 and 2016, C-EPRI has commissioned four UHVDC projects;
these projects include Jinping-Sunan project, Southern Hami-Zhengzhou project,
Xiluodu-Zhejiang project and Lingzhou-Shaoxing project, all with excellent
performance. In addition, four more similar UHVDC projects are also under construction
using C-EPRI’s A5000 valves, namely Shanghaimiao-Shandong project,
Lijiang-Shenzhen project, Jiuquan-Hunan project, and Belo Monte II project (in
Brazil).
